Irene Webb opened IWL in 2003 with a client list including screenwriters as well as novelists and non-fiction writers. Webb has a depth of experience in the publishing and film industries that is unrivaled. She began her career in the rights department at Alfred A. Knopf, where she worked with such authors as Alistair Cooke, Joseph Heller, Anne Rice, and Anne Tyler. She was lured away by G. P. Putnam’s to be Subsidiary Rights director, where she presided over a list of hundreds of books, making six and seven-figure deals for authors such as Peter Straub, Robin Cook, and set an industry record by selling rights for Mario Puzo’s books, THE GODFATHER AND FOOLS DIE.
